10 Pride Products to Buy This Month

We’re only five days into Pride Month and I’m already having all the feels about brands and companies co-opting the rainbow flag to sell some products. From rainbow makeup palettes to rainbow cupcakes and everything in between, my Instagram feed has been inundated with companies of all shapes and sizes pushing products promising to donate “10% of net profits” to LGBTQIA+ organizations. While I love the support, I want companies to support Pride and LGBTQIA+ issues year round - so with that being said (and with some encouragement from a friend), here are my recommendations on 10 things to buy this month - from companies and makers who support Pride all year round. Tell me in the comments where you plan to shop - and let me know if there are other LGBTQIA+ makers I should know about!!!

FIRST FIVE: SUPPORT LGBTQIA+ MAKERS

The makers below have amazing products AND they’re LGBTQIA+. Lauren Tilden makes incredible pride-themed greeting cards, Adam J. Kurtz has a shop full of everything you could ever want (plus he’s donating his book royalties to the Tegan and Sara Foundation this month), Good Company Magazine is everything a queer could ever want, Juniper Moon has pins for days (and I want every single one in my collection), and Tuesday Bassen is the maker of my dreams (plus everything is body/size inclusive!).

NEXT FIVE: CORPORATIONS THAT REALLY MEAN IT

You could buy rainbow-inspired products from nearly any company this month in the name of Pride, but below are five companies that I believe are really putting their money where their mouth is on inclusivity issues (including more than LGBTQIA+ issues).

Rothy’s are inclusive (and support the environment) and now you can buy rainbow shoes too. Lane Bryant is amazingly size inclusive (I’ve been able to wear their clothes at any size I’ve been) and this month they have rainbow bras! The Container Store has a partnership with the LGBT Center in NYC and they just launched a collection with The Home Edit, whose yummy rainbow-themed organization photos on Instagram are amazing. I’m trying not to drink soda, but Coca-Cola received a 100% rating on HRC's Corporate Equality Index for their LGBTQ-inclusive workplace policies and practices. Ikea also has a 100% rating, but more than that they believe “all homes were created equal” and that sentence alone is amazing - that means immigrants, people of color, and homes of diverse religions, too.
