Pendleton at the Palomar
Oh, hello.
I didn't see you there.
Have you been there long?
I know I have. A long-time lover of the Kimpton Hotels chain, that is. My first experience with a Kimpton was at the Hotel Palomar in Chicago, IL when I was a green-eared new employee of Whirlpool Corporation. Senior leadership took all the Assistant Brand Managers to Chicago to meet with our Digitas account team and I was SO EXCITED to have a room all to myself at such a nice hotel.
I wasn't yet 21 when I stayed at the Palomar for the first time (and alas had to miss out on the free every single night local wine hour), but I definitely signed up for the Kimpton Karma rewards program and the rest, as they say, is history.
Since that first stay at the Chicago Palomar, you could say I've stayed with the chain just a few times. I celebrated Valentine's Day one year with a new love also in the Chicago Palomar (and the Palomar is my most-stayed Kimpton so far). I watched the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade another year from the Hotel Burnham. I took a sweet friend to the Allegro before a night on the town. I stayed at the Monaco before checking out a new exhibit at the Art Institute. I experienced the best of New York (and of course, BeautyCon NYC) from 70 Park Ave. I celebrated my 22nd birthday (alone, but without regret) from the comfort of the Monaco. I stayed at the Palomar Phoenix to celebrate the anniversary of starting my business last year and the Sir Francis Drake in early January 2017 as a celebration of the start of my nomad year. Even the Vintage and I have become closely acquainted along my travels.
So when the opportunity arose to stay at the Palomar Phoenix again this year and partner with the chain to tell the story of everything that Kimpton has to offer, I jumped at the chance. Late on a Thursday at the end of April, Caitlyn (my amazing assistant) and I arrived at the Palomar. I was exhausted - I'd spent the day exploring Waco, TX after a week there for Illume Retreat - but excited to settle somewhere I knew I could call home.
The Palomar never disappoints, and this trip was no exception. From the full day we spent lounging by the Lustre Rooftop Bar & Pool to the nights we spent curled up in our room planning for the rest of 2017 (and even planning for an upcoming project in 2018 with Rosemary + Jana), it was truly the first time I rested so far on this year of nomadic adventures.
Scroll through below for just some of the highlights of our time at the Palomar and some photos of the property itself - I know I'll be back!
